Mary Weil:

Growing up at the Sandy Stramonine School of Dance, she discovered her lifelong love for movement and expression. She spent her childhood and teen years training in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and modern; each style shaping her into the dancer and teacher she is today. She continued dancing throughout high school and into college, where she attended SUNY Brockport and earned a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Psychology and a minor in Dance.

She began teaching at Spins Dance Studio in 2007 and instantly felt at home sharing her passion for dance with students. She later stepped away from the studio to further her education, earning a Master’s in Psychology, getting married, and starting a family. Over the past few years, she has had the joy of returning to Spins as a substitute teacher and officially rejoined the Spins family in 2024.

This year has reignited her passion for teaching. There is something incredibly special about watching little dancers fall in love with movement for the first time. She finds great joy in creating a space where young dancers can grow in confidence, creativity, and skill.

When she’s not at the studio, she cherishes time with her husband, their two amazing kids, and their beloved dog, Miss Olive. She is grateful to be dancing again and honored to help spark the joy of dance in the next generation.

Through the dance department, she had the opportunity to study under distinguished choreographers such as former principal dancer of Garth Fagan Dance Nicolette Ferguson, Jon Lehrer, and Darwin Prioleau. She was also largely involved in the extracurricular sides of dance in the Geneseo community, holding the president title of Geneseo’s Dance Club. Kaitlyn was a dancer for Geneseo’s Knightline Dance team and captained the coachless team her last two years of college.
